🇸🇪 Nordic roundtable on high-integrity carbon markets | Stockholm

Nefco - the Nordic Green Bank and Climate Leadership Coalition invite you to join a roundtable on high‑integrity international carbon markets. The event is part of a roundtable event series hosted across Nordic capitals.

Each roundtable brings together a carefully selected group of business leaders, policymakers and carbon market experts to explore Nordic opportunities in market‑based climate cooperation.

The Stockholm event will serve as the final session in this series, focusing on consolidating the conclusions and key insights generated across the previous roundtables. To maximize engagement, the event will be conducted in a hybrid format. This structure is designed to facilitate broader participation and to enable contributors from earlier roundtables to rejoin the discussion and finalize the series' outcomes.

What to expect

Participants will gain a clear and up‑to‑date understanding of:

  • where international carbon market cooperation currently stands
  • what this means in practice for Nordic businesses and other actors
  • the key business opportunities for companies

Through national perspectives, expert insights and peer exchange, the discussion aims to build a shared and practical understanding of opportunities, risks and key considerations related to market‑based climate cooperation.

Key discussion themes

  • How carbon markets aligned with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement fit within the EU’s overall climate framework, and their relevance for meeting EU, Nordic and corporate climate targets
  • Business opportunities for Nordic actors in international carbon markets
  • How Nordic actors can promote high standards, transparency and trust in international carbon markets and cooperation under Article 6

Consultations on carbon market cooperation

The roundtables form a core part of a broader stakeholder dialogue on Nordic collaboration in high‑integrity carbon market cooperation. Together with an open online consultation, they invite input from Nordic governments, private sector actors, financial institutions and other stakeholders with an interest in credible and robust carbon markets.
