Achieving global climate goals requires rapid progress in hard-to-abate sectors and few are more crucial than steel. This official UNFCCC side event brings together leaders from industry, government, and finance to accelerate coordinated action toward near-zero emissions steel. The discussion will focus on aligning sectoral strategies, enabling supportive policy frameworks, and advancing universal classification standards and certification systems. Together, participants aim to unlock investment, scale innovation, and build resilient, competitive steel ecosystems that drive the global green industrial transition. A high-level panel on global leadership in the steel sector’s transition will feature Sari Multala, Minister of Climate and the Environment of Finland, and Izabella Teixeira, former Minister of Climate Change of Brazil.

The event is hosted together with Future Cleantech Architects (Germany) and Climate Change Center (South Korea).
