Opportunities for green steel in Finland
Time: Wednesday 25 June, from 12.00 to 14.00 EEST
Location: SuomiAreena, Pori
Language: English
Invitation only
Hosted by Outokumpu, SSAB, Blastr Green Steel and Climate Leadership Coalition.
Green steel projects in Finland have moved from planning to concrete investment decisions. Outokumpu is already producing the world’s lowest emission stainless steel. SSAB is preparing major investments in Raahe, and Blastr Green Steel is planning a significant investment in Inkoo. Together, these projects represent investments worth billions of euros and the creation of thousands of jobs. In connection with SuomiAreena in Pori, the hosts invite you to a small scale invitation only lunch event focused on the opportunities of green steel in Finland.
The discussion will address which political decisions are needed at national and the EU level to ensure that industrial investments are viable and that demand for green steel accelerates. Ongoing legislative work to improve the emissions trading system and the carbon border adjustment mechanism is a central part of the policy framework supporting low carbon and green steel investments.
