Shaping EU Climate Policy

eu flags

EU climate and energy policy plays a significant role in shaping national decision-making and measures, providing a central framework for their planning and implementation.

The Northern European countries and businesses are frontrunners in climate policy, with strong expertise and ambitious goals. By influencing EU climate legislation, we promote ambitious emission reduction targets, technology-neutral solutions, and a fair and well-managed transition that supports the competitiveness of European industry, energy self-sufficiency, and sustainable growth.

Focus on the new Commission term

With the launch of Ursula von der Leyen’s second Commission, our strategic priorities center on key legislative initiatives under the Clean Industrial Deal and the EU ETS Review, alongside the preparation of the 2040 climate target and the legislative updates that will follow.

To drive impact, we will work through several theme-specific subgroups, collaborate closely with leading experts from the European Commission, the European Parliament, and other influential institutions to shape energy and climate policy across Europe.

Our policy positions are designed to foster systemic transformation and support the development of scalable low-carbon solutions. We advocate for market-based mechanisms and technological neutrality, ensuring that innovation and competitiveness remain at the heart of climate action. We bring a distinct Nordic perspective to the European dialogue, showcasing the potential of Nordic solutions as powerful enablers of change.

Shaping the future together

Beyond contributing to ongoing legislative processes, we actively introduce new initiatives into both national and EU-level discussions, working in close partnership with our members to shape a more sustainable and resilient future.
