CLC is looking for a communications & climate policy trainee

Trainee position: Communications & Climate Policy (4 -6 months)

Location: CLC office, Helsinki

Application deadline: September 21, 2025

Start date: October 2025

Duration: 4 -6 months

Salary: 2 000 € / month

Working time: Full-time (part-time negotiable for part of the traineeship)

Working language: Fluency in English is required, Finnish is useful, especially for communications tasks, but not a must.

Climate Leadership Coalition (CLC) is looking for a motivated and curious trainee to support our communications and climate policy work during the autumn season. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful climate initiatives and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, mission-driven organization.

What you’ll work on

You’ll support and/or lead projects depending on your skills and interests. Key focus areas for fall 2025 include:

Communications & content creation

  • Support the planning and execution of CLC’s communications around COP30. This includes crafting key messages, coordinating member engagement, tailoring content for different channels, and ensuring our voice stands out in the global climate dialogue.
  • Support the continued development of CLC’s social media presence, by helping maintain consistency, exploring new formats, and contributing fresh ideas to enhance engagement and reach.

Strategic projects

  • Contribute to the delivery of CLC’s strategic initiatives. This may include contributing to the design of new communication formats, stakeholder engagement, or events and campaign coordination.

Policy & research assistance

  • Support the preparation of background materials, light data gathering, and small-scale research tasks to inform CLC’s policy work and advocacy
  • Assist in planning and coordinating meetings, including stakeholder outreach and content preparation.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A student or a recent graduate
  • Interested in climate policy, sustainability, and communications.
  • A strong communicator in English
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn
  • Experience with social media, writing, or event coordination is a plus
