Climate Leadership Coalition is a leading Northern European non-profit climate-business network based in Helsinki, Finland. CLC’s members are businesses, universities, research institutions and cities that collectively employ over one million people worldwide. We work together to influence climate policy, accelerate the green transition, and to promote solutions like carbon pricing and carbon removals. About the role
We are now looking for a senior-level Policy Lead to join our seven-person team. As Policy Lead, you will be in a key position to drive CLC’s policy advocacy outreach - driving strategic influence at the EU level, fostering collaboration across our member network, and working closely with CLC’s other team members. We are looking for someone with experience in climate and energy policy, ideally with existing networks in Brussels and the Nordics, who can confidently represent CLC in high-level policy discussions and stakeholder engagements.
Key responsibilities
Policy advocacy leadership and strategy
- Lead CLC’s policy advocacy outreach, including strategy development and implementation, key focus in EU policy
- Plan and coordinate advocacy activities
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of advocacy efforts within CLC’s strategic projects
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant policy developments and the political landscape
- Identify and respond to legislative and political risks and opportunities
Stakeholder engagement and representation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in Brussels, the Nordics, and international contexts, such as the UNFCCC
- Develop and manage relationships with policymakers, industry representatives, and other relevant actors
Member collaboration and policy development
- Engage with corporate and other CLC members to gather input and develop joint policy positions
- Prepare clear and structured documentation to communicate advocacy messages
- Support CLC working groups by facilitating meetings, documenting discussions, and coordinating follow-up
What will help you thrive in this role
- Background in climate, energy or circular economy policy and strong interest for all of these
- Solid experience in EU policy and in-depth understanding of the EU decision-making process and key stakeholders
- Existing networks in Brussels and in the Nordics
- Outstanding analytical skills and ability to synthesise complex information
- In-depth understanding of Nordic businesses and their priorities
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and meet deadlines
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Fluency in English, Finnish and/or Swedish is a plus
- Proficient use of versatile ICT tools, combined with an interest in and experience of data analysis

The employment is full-time and permanent. The salary at the start of employment is EUR 6 400 – 8 400 per month. We would hope for someone to start in this position as soon as possible, ideally in August/September. There is a 6-month probation period at the beginning of employment.
Our office is located in Helsinki. We work a minimum of two days per week at the office; rest can be done remotely. You can also be based in Stockholm or Brussels, in any case a lot of meetings will take place in Helsinki, Stockholm and Brussels.
