COP30 will convene in Belém, Brazil, this November, marking a pivotal shift from negotiation to implementation in global climate policy. Finland will be present with its own pavilion, underscoring the country’s commitment to climate leadership. The pavilion will showcase how Finnish companies and institutions are driving solutions through innovation, digitalisation, and low-carbon industrial transformation.
The Finland Pavilion brings together Nokia and Outokumpu as its main partners, alongside Hydrogen Cluster, Sitra, Stora Enso, Aalto University, ACCC, Aeromon, Business Tampere, the cities of Helsinki and Tampere, Coolbrook, DIMECC, the Finnish Environment Institute, St1, TAH Foundation and University of Helsinki. Their joint presence reflects Finland’s capacity to deliver climate innovations across sectors – from heavy industry to research and urban innovation. The pavilion’s programme will also be enriched by events organized by civil society organizations, public authorities, and other NGOs selected through the Open Call category.
“I am proud that we have a broad group of Finnish businesses and other stakeholders representing climate solutions at our Pavilion at COP30. This once again demonstrates the wealth of expertise and solutions we can offer to other countries to accelerate the clean transition globally. The support of businesses for ambitious and predictable climate policy at all levels, including international climate negotiations, is extremely important.”
Sari Multala, Minister for Climate and the Environment.
”The pavilion provides an outstanding opportunity to showcase innovative and responsible Finnish solutions and expertise to the world. I am excited to be there in person to open the pavilion and to promote the know-how of Finnish companies,” says Ville Tavio, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development.
The Finland Pavilion will be officially opened with remarks from Ville Tavio, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development.
Climate Policy Is Becoming Economic Policy
COP30 will host critical discussions on carbon pricing, trade policy, and regulatory frameworks. These are issues that directly shape the Finnish industry’s operating environment. The private sector has emerged as a driving force, helping to define the rules of tomorrow’s economy.
The incoming COP30 Presidency has stressed the irreversibility of the climate transition. Businesses that anticipate and embrace this transition will thrive. Finland’s presence in Belém reflects its commitment to global collaboration and practical climate solutions.
“Digitalisation can drive measurable improvements in decarbonization, equitable access to opportunities and long-term value creation. Nokia delivers trusted, resilient and high-performing connectivity everywhere. We focus on building resource-efficient and low-energy-consuming communications networks to transform, connect and empower a resilient and responsible future,” says Subho Mukherjee, Vice President of Sustainability, Nokia.
“Ambitious climate policy is not only necessary—it is an opportunity to build the foundation for a competitive economy. The private sector has a vital role to play in shaping this transition. At Outokumpu, we see low-emission stainless steel and metals as enablers of the green transition and climate resilience from renewable energy infrastructure to clean technologies and circular urban systems. COP30 is a reminder that climate action must be a joint effort—industry, policymakers and society working together to create lasting change,” says Heidi Peltonen, Vice President of Sustainability, Outokumpu Corporation.
Finland Shaping the Future of Climate Action
Finland’s presence at COP30 goes beyond participation—it signals a commitment to turning innovation into measurable progress. The Finnish Pavilion will highlight themes such as decarbonizing the industry, digitalisation, circular and bioeconomy, and climate resilience, showcasing Finland as a green innovation hub.
Finland sees climate policy not only as an environmental imperative but as a strategic opportunity for economic renewal and competitiveness. Through its pavilion, Finland aims to strengthen international partnerships and share practical solutions that support the global green transition.
