We’re thrilled to announce that Tapio Laakso will be joining Climate Leadership Coalition as our new Policy Lead in September. Tapio brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advancing climate policy and action, making him an ideal addition to our growing team.
Tapio transitions to CLC after four impactful years as Head of Advocacy at Finn Church Aid, where he worked at the intersection of humanitarian aid and global development. His tenure there, marked by navigating increasing instability in the sector, has sharpened his sense of urgency around climate transition and the need for systemic change.In his own words, Tapio sees this move as a natural next step:
“Working with leading Northern European companies to advance climate solutions feels like exactly the right place to be, especially at a time when we need extremely practical steps forward. I hope to contribute to shaping effective policies that enable markets and businesses to align their efforts and deliver clean solutions.”
Tapio’s appointment strengthens CLC’s policy advocacy team as we continue to grow our engagement with EU decision-makers together with CLC member organizations. Tapio will lead policy initiatives in EU policy, particularly in Brussels, support the development of joint positions, and contribute to advancing climate ambition and the clean transition through pragmatic outreach and collaboration. His arrival ensures we are well-positioned to influence legislation and frameworks that support climate action.
